Refractometer BIER 0 - 18 % Brix with ATC
Model especially for brewers.
Ideal for checking your beer wort during boiling and for monitoring the rinsing of the spent grains.
Range 0 - 18 % Brix, graduation per 0.1°
With automatic temperature correction between 10 and 30 °C (ATC).
Refractometers
These are optical precision instruments that use the refractive index to determine the density of a liquid.
Precise and yet easy to use: simply place a few drops of liquid on the prism and read off the density directly.
They are supplied in a small box with a screwdriver for easy calibration, a drop pipette and instructions for use.
Density measurement
Density meters made of glass work according to the "Archimedes' principle":
The buoyant force of a body in a liquid or gas is equal to the weight of the displaced liquid or gas.
the weight of the displaced liquid or gas.
The gram is the mass of one cubic centimetre (or 1 cc or 1 ml) of pure water.
Now there are a number of units used to measure sugar that relate directly to a unit of weight.
Other units refer to density or bulk density.
The bulk density is the weight per unit volume (g/cm3). The bulk density of pure water is 1 g/cm3.
The bulk density of water is 1 (i.e. 1,000).
